Account recovery

This form says the same thing whoever asks.

A page that answered “no such account” would be a way to find out which students a school has. So it confirms nothing either way: it reports that a link has been sent, and only an address that exists receives one.

01One hour, one useA reset link expires an hour after it was requested and stops working the moment it has been used, so a link that goes astray does not stay usable.
02Stored as a hashThe token is kept the way a password is kept. Somebody reading the database cannot rebuild a working link from it.
03Written to the recordThe request and the change are both entered in the audit log, with who asked and when.

If nothing arrives within a few minutes, check the address you typed and look in your spam folder before requesting another link.
